The expanded Well Society board met on Monday evening for the first time. Newly-elected members Greg Anderson, Martin Grey and Gavin McCafferty joined the six existing board members at Fir Park seven days after the close of the vote.
Vacancies on both the club and Well Society board were the main topic of conversation. Well Society rules permit the co-option of up to three board members. A number of potential candidates have been identified and we are pushing on with this process as a priority. Further talks on the club board vacancies will be held with chief executive Brian Caldwell and other directors as soon as possible.
We also discussed the future structure of the workstreams, which are being streamlined to four groups – improving our communications, engaging our members, strengthening our governance and delivering our growth plan. Our aim is for each group to have three board members supporting alongside a number of Well Society members as contributors. We have already reached out to the other 13 members who put themselves up for election to the board to determine whether they would be keen to contribute to the Well Society’s ongoing efforts to grow our membership and income and our contribution to the club’s success. Some of them were already doing so and the vast majority have expressed a desire to be involved.
We will update members on further developments in the coming weeks.
