Brian Caldwell spoke of the benefits of the strengthened relations between the Motherwell and Well Society boards as he delivered his monthly update to fans.
The Motherwell chief executive hailed the appointment of chairman Kyrk Macmillan, Grant Jarvie and Greg Anderson on to the executive board and explained his involvement in the recruitment process along with a sub-committee of the Well Society board.
The same also exercise also led to the co-option of Alison Thewliss, David Cullinan and Kevin Rogers on the Well Society board, which is now at full strength.
Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, Brian said: “The Well Society board asked me to be involved in the selection process for the club exec board and also on the Well Society board, so I was really pleased to be involved in that and give my take, having worked over a number of football club boards over the years as well.
“We work together, which is the most important thing, and what I keep saying about the football club, the Well Society and the Community Trust as well, all working together and that’s what we’re starting to see.
“I think that was a good example of the club and the Well Society working together to get the right appointments to the football club board and the Well Society board too, because the strength of candidates that we met over the two nights was very, very strong.
“I’m really enthused by the two boards now. I’ve got a really good relationship with everybody on the Well Society board and I’m having regular contact with the new members of the club board too.
“We’re really all pushing in the same direction, which I felt when I came in we weren’t really doing, and it’s been one of my first aims was to try and get everybody together.”
Brian also spoke about issues involving away fans during Celtic’s recent visit, player contracts, speculation over the future of Lennon Miller, the Well Society’s phone campaign and an upcoming ticketing focus group for Well Society members, full details of which will be confirmed in the coming days.
He also discussed attempts to get as many of the 8,131 Motherwell fans who backed the team at Hampden earlier this month to come along to Fir Park on a regular basis.
“We are in constant talks with the Well Society about ideas about what we can do, we’re analysing data all the time to try and see better ways of doing it, how can we promote the games better, how can we make sure that everybody’s aware when a Motherwell home game is,” he said.
“There is that close working relationship now between ourselves and the Well Society board and hopefully we can work together and achieve that.”

Earlier this week, Kyrk spoke to Sky Sports News reporter Gordon Duncan about his journey to becoming Motherwell chairman and his ambitions for the club, stressing the importance of the focus on youth development.
The 33-year-old outlined his commitment to transparency, openness and listening to others,
as well as cementing the success of fan ownership and providing unity among supporters following the debate over the summer.
Kyrk said: “A big part of our identity as a football club, for me growing up Motherwell has always been very big into the community and youth development and I think those things are quite in keeping with with fan ownership.
“That’s not to say that we’re not interested in fresh investment, fresh development of the football club. Of course we are. That’s the name of the game ultimately, but how do we tie those things together with fan ownership? One doesn’t negate the other.
“It’s how do we engage business, how do we engage individuals and how do we engage the community?”
He added: “We’ve got two boards that are working very much in tandem, and have shared values as well, and that has to continue like that.”
