New Proposals Unveiled After Membership Feedback

The Well Society is set to introduce significant changes following feedback from its members in the January 2025 membership survey.

The survey results highlighted key areas for improvement, including membership benefits, engagement, and governance, prompting a series of proposed updates aimed at strengthening the Society and its role within the Motherwell FC community.

Revamping Membership Benefits and Engagement

A major finding from the survey was that 63% of respondents were dissatisfied with the current membership benefits.

In response, the Well Society is developing a refreshed benefits package for both UK-based adult and Junior Steel members. Additionally, two new membership packages are being introduced specifically for Motherwell supporters living abroad, ensuring the global fanbase remains connected and engaged.

To further enhance member involvement, the Society is also proposing the introduction of a new Members’ Code of Conduct, along with updates to the adult membership definition.

These changes aim to reinforce the sense of community among members and encourage greater participation in Society activities.

Strengthening Governance and Structure

Governance was another area of concern, with 31% of survey respondents expressing dissatisfaction with the current structure. To address this, the Well Society is proposing updates to its Rules of Association, aligning them with best practices recommended by Supporters Direct Scotland. Additionally, new supporting policies will be introduced to enhance transparency and accountability.

In a bid to secure long-term sustainability, the Society is also considering a revised approach to funding, designed to provide a more stable financial foundation and ensure stronger governance.

Have Your Say

The Well Society is inviting all members to take part in a six-week consultation period, running until Monday, April 14. Members can share their thoughts through an online survey, attend in-person and virtual surgery sessions, or participate in discussions at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on March 31.

Feedback from this consultation will play a crucial role in shaping the final proposals, which will be refined before being put to a formal vote at an Extraordinary General Meeting in May.
