“The voices of our thousands of members and fans is at the heart of the recruitment process.” – Greg Anderson
Motherwell Football Club has entered a bold new chapter with the appointment of Danish manager Jens Berthel Askou – a decision shaped by a recruitment process where the voice of the fans played a central role.
With the Well Society represented on the club’s executive board, fan ownership once again proved its value, ensuring the views and values of supporters guided one of the most important decisions in the football calendar.
Greg Anderson, Executive Board and Well Society Director, helped lead the appointment process.
“The appointment of Jens, following a rigorous process given the large number of applications, represents a signal of ambition from our club and our executive board,” Greg said.
“Being the Well Society’s executive board director is a great privilege and ensures that the voices of our thousands of members and fans is at the heart of the recruitment process.
“Throughout the process I was focused on helping attract and recruit the very best football talent to the club – and someone who reflected the values and the style of play we all want to see at Motherwell.”
Askou, 42, arrives at Fir Park with silverware and European experience under his belt. A respected figure in Danish and Faroese football, he has a reputation for building close bonds with clubs and communities – an approach that will resonate with the ‘Well support.
“I’m very proud and honoured to be the new manager of Motherwell Football Club,” Jens said.
“I am looking forward to working with the staff, players and supporters to build on the strong foundations at the club.
Together, we can look forward to exciting times and make sure the team fights for our badge, town and community.”
With early bird season tickets ending in June, Greg made a clear call to fans:
“It’s an exciting time to be a ‘Well fan. Now is the time to renew – and check your Well Society membership – the other half of your commitment to Motherwell FC.”
