Mrs Baillie’s Bar – in the heart of the new-look beer garden – enjoyed a hugely popular debut ahead of the friendly against Hertha Berlin.
Motherwell and Hertha fans turned up in their numbers to make the first night of the bar a major success.
The Well Society has utilised income from events and fundraising activities to finance a summer transformation of the area in a bid to boost income for the club.
The bar cannot open ahead of the league game against Rangers but the fan zone project will continue in the coming weeks with an official launch pencilled in for the visit of Kilmarnock on August 30.
More work is planned inside the bar and outside in the fan zone but a late flurry of activity from Well Society board members, other volunteers and club staff, after some rain-enforced delays, ensured the bar got its first outing ahead of the 1-1 draw against the German side last Friday.
The wooden bar is named after the pub where Glencairn and Alpha met in May 1886 to form Motherwell FC, and will be further fitted out in appropriate fashion in the coming weeks.
We hope those members and other Motherwell fans who attended were impressed with the new facilities, which include a series of picnic tables constructed by the Lanark Men’s Shed.
We will be working to accommodate even more of you before the Killie game and will keep you updated on progress.
