There was a warm welcome at Fir Park for Well Society members Ann McKeown and Raymond Mearns as they arrived for lunch with Motherwell captain Paul McGinn.
Ann took part in the Well Society’s ’12 Days of Christmas’ festive auction last year, securing the exclusive opportunity with her bid.
Ann and partner Raymond were met by Paul after training and treated to the same lunch as the players, many of whom stopped by for a chat along with manager Jens Berthel Askou.
Topics around the table included player sponsorship, the training schedule, Paul’s career and off-the-park chat about holidays, career-ending comedy gigs and terrible jokes.
Ann said: “It was a fantastic experience made even better knowing we were adding funds to the Well Society. Paul was a great host along with Sally (Hall), making sure we were well looked after.
“We really appreciated Jens coming over to introduce himself and make sure we had everything we needed.
“Thanks to Sam (Nicholson) and to the rest of the guys who took the time to say hello. They didn’t have to, but it just shows their respect for the everyday supporters.
“It was worth every penny and more that we paid in the auction and I’d recommend bidding if it’s available again.”
