Some of our Junior Steel members who assist the club as Fir Park ball attendants had a special thank-you from Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou and his squad on Monday.
They were invited to Dalziel Sports Ground to hone their skills and have some fun before working alongside Motherwell players at a first-team training session.
Sally Hall, the Well Society’s development manager, said: “We have a pool of around 30 ball attendants and their dedication plays a vital part in the smooth running of match days. We had the opportunity to involve a small number of them with light training and a fun time to thank them for their efforts.”

After a short training session of their own, the youngsters were joined by Motherwell captain Paul McGinn and players, who joined in with fun games. The session was rounded off by everyone having a go at penalty-kicks.
Josh Fergie, 12, loved getting to spend time with the players and scoring penalties against them. He said: “The players are very funny, especially Said, Slattery and Watt.”

Josh’s grandad went along with him and was “blown away” by how good the were on the pitch.
It was also a great experience for Klayton Smith’s grandad, who enjoyed seeing his grandson with team he’s supported since he was a boy.

“That was priceless ,” said Klayton’s mum, Amanda, “My heart was full with my son and my dad there.”
Jens himself said: “I think we all had a good time today.”
Remember, one of the great benefits of being a Junior Steel member is the chance to become a ball attendant — an exciting way to get closer to the action and support the team.
This opportunity is open to current Junior Steel members aged 10 and older, provided certain commitments and conditions are met. Due to the popularity of the role, there is currently a waiting list.
