It was a long journey for Motherwell fan Sean Brown – but his presence at first team training this week was worth every one of the 400-odd miles he drove to get there.

“We had such a fantastic day,” said Sean.

Sean won the prize to attend first team training after being the highest bidder in the Society’s fundraising auction last year. Given the distance from Fir Park, and various scheduling challenges, he was glad when the moment finally came to see the team in action.

Well Society Chair Derek Watson and manager Jens Berthel Askou welcomed Sean and his partner Frances to Dalziel before they cast an eye over training and met the players.

“It was interesting finding out about other aspects of the training and what goes into it, such as the drone analysis,” Sean said. “We also got to speak to some folks connected to the club. Frances and I enjoyed our conversations with Derek, talking about music and gigs and Captain Paul McGinn came over and stood with us for a while and we spoke about travelling and our love for gaming and horror games. I know we could have been there for hours talking about everything Motherwell!

“We are very thankful to the manager, players and staff who were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome.”

Derek said: “Days like this, where members see the work behind the scenes and which puts them in direct touch with the team they support, are so special. I’m delighted Sean and Frances had a good day.”

Remember – this could be you. Attending first team training will feature again as a prize in our 12 Days of Christmas auction. Look out for details soon.
